A targeted goal of the mathematics department is to improve standardized test scores. To do a more effective job in obtaining this goal, the department has been divided into three content areas. The first area deals strictly with skills reinforcement. The second content area is one that focuses on the FCAT. This area will help to prepare students to enter upper level mathematics. The main focus will be geometry, spatial sense and algebraic thinking. The third area, considered as upper level, will target students who have needs for solid mathematics concepts. This area will also prepare students to enter post-secondary education and/or the work force. |
