Library Information Center
The center's goal is to develop lifelong learners through a comprehensive library collection and programs. Students prepare class assignments using the Internet, online databases, books, magazines, newspapers, and multimedia software and equipment. Collaboration between the teacher-librarian and the classroom teacher integrates information skills into the regular curriculum.
Enjoying leisure reading while continuing to build strong reading skills is a strong focus at COPE Center North. All students use the center's diverse print collection that ranges from literary classics and young adult fiction to up-to-date information on pregnancy and parenting. They may check out audiovisual materials on topics of personal interst.
We teach our students about the importance of early learning and encourage them to talk, read and sing to children from birth. A collection of board books, picture books, and childen's videos supports this teaching.
Other special library events occur throughout the year, including schoolwide read alouds, author visits, and Just Read!!! Club activities.
